The Tshidi-Barolong Nation has the distinction of having had more regents than actual kings in its history.
Most dikgosi(kings) died whilst their sons(heirs) were still minors. As a result many paternal uncles had to hold the throne until the heirs came of age. All of the regents contributed immensely to the development of the nation
